 進化生物学が明らかにしつつあることですが、人間の身体、心は本来的に都市生活にはフィット(適応)していません。身体・心と都市環境がミスマッチを起こしており、ちぐはぐなのです。どうすれば利他とケアができるようになるのか? と問いを立てるのではなく、現代文明の一体何が、私たちの利他とケアを阻んでいるのか? と問いから自然環境、都市環境を考えてみたいと思います。

 

 Evolutionary biology is revealing that the human body and mind are not inherently fit for urban living. There is a mismatch between the body/mind and the urban environment. How can we learn to do altruism and care for others? Instead of asking "How can we become more altruistic and caring?”, I would like to discuss the natural environment and urban environment in terms of the following question: "What is preventing us from doing altruism and care?
